About the Event
Visitors are invited to this quaint community in northeast Huntington County to taste the flavor of fine arts on Saturday, October 9th, 2010. Artists from around the region will display their work on Main Street in historic downtown Roanoke for “A Renaissance in Roanoke,” which runs from 10 am to 5 pm.
The event features local and regional artists whose original art will also be on sale, as well as live music, food and entertainment. A Fall Farmers Market will be available. Other features include the Plein Air Painters, who will paint outdoors in picturesque parts of Roanoke from 8 am to 3 pm; young artists from Roanoke Elementary School, who will have their art on display; art demonstrations; and children’s art activities. An exhibit and sale of high school and collegiate art will also be part of the festivities.
Those attending the event will have the opportunity to vote for the People’s Choice Award from artwork on display in various booths. Charles Shepherd, Executive Director of The Fort Wayne Museum of Art will judge the Plein Air Painters work, beginning at 3:00 pm.
This is an Invitational and Juried show, which offers the unique opportunity for the public to support the arts and to interact and purchase directly from the artist. A Renaissance in Roanoke will feature many artists with original artwork in a variety of disciplines, as well as children’s art activities, music and food vendors. This event sponsored by The Roanoke Arts Council, Joseph Decuis, and other local sponsors.
